Chemung County

History
The best place to research the history of Chemung County (in my opinion) is the Tri-Counties Genealogy & History by Joyce M. Tice website. Make sure you check the How To Use This Site section as it gives invaluable advice on navigating through her web pages.

Cemeteries
While the above website has a general listing of cemeteries in Chemung County, they are intermixed with cemeteries in Bradford and Tioga counties in Pennsylvania. She explains the reason is there was a lot of migration between these three counties and if you are researching in Chemung County, you may want to look around on the other two counties as well. You can find the cemeteries sorted by township, so if you know which town your cemetery is in, this might be the easiest way. Another website that has a list of cemeteries sorted by town is the Chemung Valley History Museum
